The Gambler.<\/em><\/p>\n

Marc Wahlberg (not badly at all) plays an English professor with a gambling problem.\u00a0 His specific dragon is blackjack.\u00a0 He is at times in the film up millions of dollars but can’t pull away.\u00a0 He always stays in and always loses.<\/p>\n

He…\u00a0 You know what?\u00a0 Fuck it.\u00a0 This movie was stupid.\u00a0 I ought to enjoy a film about a filthy, student nailing, gambling professor.\u00a0 Bored off my ass.\u00a0 I love gambling, one of the few things in life I do well.\u00a0 Love blackjack.\u00a0 Love English.\u00a0 Tolerate blondes.\u00a0 This movie had a bunch going for it.\u00a0 But, it fails to hold your attention.\u00a0 Other than the masochistic blackjack sequences, you’ll be either bored or questioning whether the plot makes sense.<\/p>\n

Various criminals in the film keep loaning money to Wahlberg even though they know he already owes a shitload to other criminals.\u00a0 One of the crooks extends him a 2nd loan based on nothing.\u00a0 Kids: this is not how loan sharks act in real life.\u00a0 No issues with the actors in this film.\u00a0 Nothing they can do when given boring and\/or senseless things to do.<\/p>\n

Plot caverns are easy to overlook.\u00a0 Well, maybe not easy.\u00a0 But I’m an American (eminently bribeable), I can overlook a plot oubliette in exchange for being entertained.\u00a0 But without my bribe; I’m going to have to write you up.\u00a0 And I will.\u00a0 Shitty forgettable movie.\u00a0 Save your money and watch Rounders<\/em> again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
