Arrow<\/strong><\/p>\n I tend to dismiss shows on the CW out of hand.\u00a0 I also tend to dismiss DC character TV shows out of hand (cough Smallville<\/em>).\u00a0 I admit that was racist.\u00a0 Arrow<\/em> isn’t half bad.\u00a0 Often it’s actually good.\u00a0 I don’t really read Green Arrow.\u00a0 I don’t read much DC in general (exceptions: Some Batman, anytime Superman dies, any Frank Miller or Alan Moore).\u00a0 People speak highly of a series where Green Arrow represented a liberal point of view and Green Lantern represented a conservative perspective as they teamed up.\u00a0 I liked him in The Dark Knight Returns<\/em>, but he was killing Superman which is one of the coolest things anyone can do ever.\u00a0 In the show, he ends up surviving a shipwreck getting marooned on some random island of war in the South China Sea.\u00a0 Then escapes to be an indentured mercenary in Hong Kong.\u00a0 Also, joins the Russian mob at some point…\u00a0 Anyway he’s a Bruce Wayne style heir and he’s ‘missing’ for 5 years before he makes it back home.\u00a0 During that time he became a badass.\u00a0 So he decides to become a vigilante.\u00a0 He picked up some archery skills during his vacation so he sticks with that theme.\u00a0 Good martial arts action, especially for TV.\u00a0 Also isn’t shy about introducing tons of other DC characters.\u00a0 Barry Allen’s cameo was so popular they made a spinoff show for The Flash.<\/p>\n The Flash<\/strong><\/p>\n A better character than Arrow anyway but I wouldn’t have watched it if I hadn’t caught The Arrow<\/em> on netflix.\u00a0 A lab accident gives Barry Allen the ability to achieve ridiculous speed.\u00a0 Also heals fast, and digests fast.\u00a0 Cast members speculate on what effect this speed has on other aspects of his life.\u00a0 Big budget porn in the future.\u00a0 Anyway there’s a solid supporting cast in this show.\u00a0 It’s noticeably lighter in tone from Arrow<\/em> but that’s on purpose.\u00a0 The 2 shows recently pulled off a crossover event that I quite enjoyed.\u00a0 Flash may be a slightly better show so far but it just started so we’ll see.\u00a0 They’ve got a fairly large mystery involving time travel right now.\u00a0 I’m going to have to watch more just to find out who the man in the yellow suit is.\u00a0 I’m betting future Dr Wells but we’ll see.<\/p>\n True Blood<\/strong><\/p>\n I quit watching.\u00a0 Only the first season was good.<\/p>\n Newsroom<\/strong><\/p>\n Only the first 2 minutes of the pilot were decent.\u00a0 The rest was utter shit.<\/p>\n Homeland<\/strong><\/p>\n Surprisingly better in its 4th season.\u00a0 Still shows the classic Showtime lack of thinking 5 minutes in front of its face, but better than it has been.<\/p>\n Boardwalk Empire<\/strong><\/p>\n The final season massively departs from history.\u00a0 Honestly if they were going to kill Nucky, they should have killed him in the 1st season and made the show about Jimmy and Harrow.\u00a0 Started solid ended with a wet fart.<\/p>\n Walking Dead<\/strong><\/p>\n Getting better.\u00a0 Still too many filler episodes and not as good as the first season but getting better.<\/p>\n Brooklyn 99<\/strong><\/p>\n The new Parks and Rec.\u00a0 No joke, this show is funny as fuck.\u00a0 And might have characters worth arcing.\u00a0 We’ll see.\u00a0 But mandatory viewing.<\/p>\n New Girl<\/strong><\/p>\n After Nick and Jessica finally fucked it kind of lost steam.\u00a0 But still funnier than everything on CBS.<\/p>\n Sons of Anarchy<\/strong><\/p>\n Finally over.\u00a0 Probably had an extra season or 3 and wasn’t anything deep, but I enjoyed it.\u00a0\u00a0 The ending (while 45 minutes too long) was solid.<\/p>\n Ray Donovan<\/strong><\/p>\n What a pile of bullshit.\u00a0 There will occasionally be a good ass beating or nudity or both to draw you in; but it’s a trap.\u00a0 Run!<\/p>\n Gotham<\/strong><\/p>\n Not bad.\u00a0 Not as good as it could easily be but not bad.\u00a0 Show follows Jim Gordon and the Gotham underworld about 15 years before the coming of Batman.\u00a0 Alfred is solid.\u00a0 Little Catwoman is cute.\u00a0 Great casting.\u00a0 Only thing is Fish Mooney is the worst character ever.\u00a0 I can’t wait for her murder.<\/p>\n American Horror Story<\/strong><\/p>\n Quit watching.\u00a0 Season 3 was pretty stupid and Jessica Lang is no longer a sex symbol.\u00a0 Sorry lady.\u00a0 I don’t even know what the current season is about.<\/p>\n Black Sails<\/strong><\/p>\n Hey Michael Bay is producing a pirate show.\u00a0 That’ll probably suck.\u00a0 Except it doesn’t.\u00a0 It’s actually more like Master and Commander<\/em> the show instead of Pirates of the Caribbean<\/em>.\u00a0 I mean they are pirates but it’s a fair mix of the historical, the plausible, and Treasure Island.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>It basically follows several characters from the novel about 20 years before the novel takes place.\u00a0 Obligatory pay cable nudity and really good naval action.\u00a0 This show will surprise you in how good it actually is.\u00a0 Luckily it just got picked up for a 2nd season.\u00a0 Also one of the best opening numbers I’ve seen.\u00a0 Mandatory viewing.<\/p>\n Archer Vice<\/strong><\/p>\n In their 4th season, ISIS got shut down by the government.\u00a0 Annnd the government forgot they had just seized a metric ton of cocaine.\u00a0 How hard is it to form a drug cartel?\u00a0 Fucking hilarious.\u00a0 Mandatory viewing.<\/p>\n Bates Motel<\/strong><\/p>\n It’s better than anything on Showtime.\u00a0 Sufficiently creepy Psycho<\/em> prequel.\u00a0 Unfortunately the side characters keep being accidentally more interesting than the main plot.\u00a0 Keeps causing focus problems.\u00a0 Not bad though.<\/p>\n Legend of Kora<\/strong><\/p>\n After a bad second season it came kicking back with a good 3rd season and a (so far) great 4th season.\u00a0 However, MORE GENERAL IROH!!<\/p>\n Fargo<\/strong><\/p>\n If it wasn’t for True Detective<\/em> this would have been the best cop show I’ve seen in awhile.\u00a0 Billy Bob Thorton is a sociopath to root for.<\/p>\n Downton Abby<\/strong><\/p>\n Is it stupid? Often. Is it basically a period soap opera?\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 Do I watch?\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 The cast is just good at their job.\u00a0 They kill it.<\/p>\n Hannibal<\/strong><\/p>\n This mismash of characters from Thomas Harris’s books just keeps getting better.\u00a0 Worth watching for the food and the clothes.\u00a0 I want Hannibal’s suits and everyone will get hungry watching the food.\u00a0 You know some of it is human.\u00a0 You don’t care.\u00a0 Aside from that Mads Milkensen KILLS it as Hannibal Lecter.<\/p>\n Agents of Shield<\/strong><\/p>\n This show’s gotten pretty good.\u00a0 They introduce side characters at a slower rate than Arrow<\/em> and Flash<\/em> do but Phil Coulson is a great creation.<\/p>\n Modern Family<\/strong><\/p>\n Still good.<\/p>\n Mad Men<\/strong><\/p>\n Keeps making its case for best show on TV.\u00a0 First part of season 7 was awesome sauce.<\/p>\n Parks and Rec<\/strong><\/p>\n Still the comedy gold standard.\u00a0 Its about to end because everyone on the show is now too fucking famous for being awesome.<\/p>\n The Killing<\/strong><\/p>\n After an amazing first 2 seasons, seasons 3 and 4 were shit.\u00a0 Joel Kinnaman will always be a badass though.<\/p>\n Star Wars Rebels<\/strong><\/p>\n My first thought is: they canceled Clone Wars<\/em> for this shit?\u00a0 Maybe it’ll get better.<\/p>\n The Strain<\/strong><\/p>\n Actually, I liked it.\u00a0 I was thinking more vampires?
