{"id":343,"date":"2012-07-02T18:01:32","date_gmt":"2012-07-02T18:01:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/movieox.com\/?p=343"},"modified":"2012-07-02T18:07:10","modified_gmt":"2012-07-02T18:07:10","slug":"tv-rant-wtf-hbo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/movieox.com\/?p=343","title":{"rendered":"TV Rant: WTF HBO?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On my last TV rant I maintained that Newsweek did enough to get one more viewing from me.\u00a0 And they used it.\u00a0 That second episode was the dumbest thing I watched on TV yesterday that wasn&#8217;t <em>True Blood<\/em>.\u00a0 I&#8217;m past being concerned the show has a decided political slant or that the retro-active fictionalization of real events is lazy or that I might be biased against a drama centered around journalism (because I hate the institution).\u00a0 The show, in the space of one episode, became too stupid for my consideration.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not the show&#8217;s political bent, its lazy design, or that journalism is inherently stupid.\u00a0 The dialogue of its 2nd episode was worthy of <em>Full House<\/em>.\u00a0 If I were HBO I&#8217;d be embarrassed I greenlit this crap.<\/p>\n<p>And keeping with HBO, how stupid is <em>True Blood<\/em>?\u00a0 And how retarded am I to keep watching it?\u00a0 It&#8217;s first season began as a truly unique take on the supernatural and its uses in symbolism (and in this case the show should be viewed separate from the books.\u00a0 the 1st season of the show was an actual achievement; the books are were and are still crap).\u00a0 And sported some very attractive nude females, some of whom are Oscar winners.\u00a0 But it quickly went stupid.\u00a0 Much like Alan Ball&#8217;s other show.\u00a0 Why am I still watching?\u00a0 Well, there&#8217;s still nudity.\u00a0 And Bill and Eric are still slightly interesting characters.\u00a0 So I&#8217;ll continue to chronicle this thing from its promising beginning to whenever the ass machine it has become emits its final wet fart.\u00a0 But you should ignore this pile of shit.\u00a0 Save yourself.<\/p>\n<p>HBO is singularly lacking a quality Sunday show.\u00a0 I&#8217;m hoping post-Jimmy <em>Boardwalk Empire <\/em>doesn&#8217;t let me down.\u00a0 And if not, AMC&#8217;s <em>Breaking Bad <\/em>will get me over my breakup.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s really too bad <em>Luck <\/em>was decidedly unlucky.\u00a0 That could have been a solid show.\u00a0 I like the idea of Milich and Mann teaming up again.\u00a0 HBO needs to keep these guys working.\u00a0 The give good TV.<\/p>\n<p>Looking at HBO&#8217;s upcoming new shows, I&#8217;m underwhelmed.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s hoping that <em>Dark Tower <\/em>adaptation doesn&#8217;t suck complete ass.\u00a0 And that they don&#8217;t fuck up <em>American Gods<\/em>.\u00a0 And enough with Sorkin.\u00a0 He&#8217;s proven to be a movie writer.\u00a0 His TV efforts are more of the CBS calibre.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On my last TV rant I maintained that Newsweek did enough to get one more viewing from me.\u00a0 And they used it.\u00a0 That second episode was the dumbest thing I watched on TV yesterday that wasn&#8217;t True Blood.\u00a0 I&#8217;m past &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/movieox.com\/?p=343\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-343","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-review"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/movieox.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/343","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/movieox.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/movieox.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/movieox.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/movieox.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=343"}],"version-history":[{"count":5,"href":"https:\/\/movieox.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/343\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":347,"href":"https:\/\/movieox.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/343\/revisions\/347"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/movieox.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=343"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/movieox.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=343"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/movieox.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=343"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
