Someone does deserve an award for the Columbiana<\/em> trailer.\u00a0 The trailer gets your blood moving.<\/p>\n And I saw this film under a false assumption.\u00a0 I thought Luc Besson directed it.\u00a0 He does not, he has a co-writer credit on the screenplay.\u00a0 And I\u2019m pretty sure this might be the worst film he\u2019s been associated with, hold on let me research it a bit.\u00a0 No, that would be Hitman<\/em>.\u00a0 But still, it\u2019s not good.<\/p>\n The story is familiar ground for the man, a young girl\u2019s family is killed in front of her (difficult to generate sympathy as her father was a killer for hire).\u00a0 She finds relatives (who are in the murder business in the American Midwest) and she begins to train for revenge.<\/p>\n There is potential in the film, Zoe Salanda is a talented actress and she deserves to be a headliner, and there\u2019s a very solid scene where she gains access to a police station to kill a prisoner by fabricating a very funny DUI.\u00a0 Cliff Curtis, who plays her uncle, has a pretty good scene where he convinces Zoe that she needs to go to school if she wants to kill anyone.\u00a0 But those are the only parts worth anyone\u2019s time, and they amount to 12 minutes of the movie.<\/p>\n You hear the name Luc Besson, and you\u2019re thinking of The Professional<\/em> and Taken<\/em> and you\u2019re all pumped, and nothing.\u00a0 The action is all boring and any innovation in the plot is foreshadowed to death and there are no suprises.\u00a0 And while Zoe is gifted and very hot; those things a movie do not make.<\/p>\n Like I said, don\u2019t waste your time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Don\u2019t waste your time seeing this film.\u00a0 It is straight to DVD quality.\u00a0 I kept waiting for Dolph Lungren to jump out.\u00a0 If are curious, wait for redbox.
